Is your knowledge AI ready?
Your knowledge now has two readers: your people and artificial intelligence.
Inkling is the award-winning legal design practice that makes legal and governance knowledge work for both. We structure it so AI retrieves the right content, redesign it so humans genuinely understand the output, and test the whole pipeline with real people to produce correct decisions, not just confident answers.
Inkling is the small Australian innovator advising some of the world's biggest brands and contributing to the global AI frameworks and discussions including UNCITRAL and the ICC.
AI on top of unclear documents doesn't fix them. It launders the problems at scale. Legal design delivers AI readiness and ensures both people and AI understand the information layer.
The Problem
When you deploy AI over your knowledge, the AI's answer inherits everything about the source: its ambiguities, its buried conditions and its 70-word sentences.
The answer just arrives faster, in a friendlier voice and with more confidence than the document ever earned. Four failures stack on top of each other:
Retrieval failure: AI surfaces the wrong clause, the outdated version or half the answer, because the knowledge was never structured for machine reading.
Accuracy failure: The AI's output is only as clear as what it read. If AI can’t understand it fully this increases the error rate. Users get an answer they can't correctly act on but it appears confident.
Comprehension failure: If the AI is faithful to the source, its complexity remains. Users still can’t understand what they’re meant to do. They ask questions which leads to interaction failure.
Interaction failure: Users write leading questions; the AI obliges. Users trust fluent answers; the AI is always fluent. Human bias and machine bias compound and produce decisions that feel checked but aren't.
The Solution
What stands between you and ROI is your information layer. We’ll help you fix it.
We optimise knowledge for humans and AI. We use proven strategies to reduce the 4 failures and measure impact. We do this by blending legal skills, human centred design and deep AI expertise. We refocus legal systems and information on the people they serve, and recalibrate legal practice for real people. Our unique process is data driven with measurable results.
We work with some of the brightest minds around the globe. We’re a local firm with a global footprint. Our clients are based in Sydney, Hong Kong, San Francisco and London just to name a few.

Our work
Why we do this
Some days we make law more visual. Simple. Beautiful. Or fun.
Other days we tame complexity by harnessing emerging technology to solve practical law issues. Automation, AI and data. The new tools of our trade. Ever wished you had a robot to review all those clauses? We make them. We teach them how to read legal terms. We test how well they do it.
On our hardest days, we work with survivors, minorities and marginalised groups to reshape the way we create laws and deliver legal solutions. From the language used, to the systems put in place, we figure out what needs fixing and then we fix it. Online dispute platforms. Empathetic chatbots. Regulation of new technology. These are also our best days.
For us, it’s about reducing the human cost of law and making justice cost effective and humane.
